What is an “independent jewelry appraiser?”
An independent jewelry appraiser acts as an impartial third party. The appraiser should not act as a buyer or a seller. This assures you that the appraiser is being fair and impartial; that the pieces being appraised are not being artificially inflated or devalued.
Do I need to bring any other documentation with me when I come for my appointment?
Yes. In order to give you the most accurate appraisal possible, bring with you any previous appraisals, receipts, or diamond reports from GIA, EGL, AGS, etc.
How often do I need to have my jewelry appraised?
Most insurance companies recommend that you have your jewelry appraisal reports updated every two or three years. Please keep in mind you will need to have items with large gemstones -- especially diamonds -- updated more often than an item with no gemstones at all.
How much are appraisals?
Independent jewelry appraisals are $125 for the first piece and $100 for one additional piece. After second piece, the price goes back to $125.
